Petites Histoires came from some paintings that Inez did on a school notebook given to her. The writing in the notebook consisted of responses of young women to a quiz with such questions such as what’s your favorite color, how old are you, do you smoke, and the sassy answers. The writing is still visible in many cases. Marie wrote the stories to accompany the prints about when she was nineteen and a student in Paris.
